Martial artists clean up in southern Ontario

Benoit's Martial Arts athletes attended several tournaments on Sept. 26 and 27 winning a total of 15 events.

On Sept. 26, Bradley Chaput, Marissa Meandro and Juliana Meandro competed at the Ontario Grand Nationals in London, Ont. 

Chaput won first in traditional kata and first in traditional weapons in the black belt boys 13-14 division. He then went on the win the under 13-17 Grand Champion award.

Marissa placed second in traditional kata and second in traditional weapons in the black belt girls 13-14 division.

Julianna placed second in traditional kata in the 11-12 advanced belt division.

On Sunday, the group attended the Karate Ontario Grand Prix No. 3 in Mississagua.

All athletes placed in their respective division. Chaput won gold in elite boys 16-17 kata and silver elite boys 14-15 kata. Marissa won gold in elite girls 14-15 kata and bronze in elite girls 16-17
kata.

Julianna took the bronze in elite girls 12-13 kata.

John Howard bronze elite boys 16-17 kata and bronze in elite boys 16-17 kumite. Melissa Wan gold girls advanced 10-11 kata and Ethan Bubba silver elite boys 12-13 kata.
