Call them the streaky Rayside-Balfour Canadians.

After opening the 2015-2016 season with four consecutive wins, the local NOJHLers have been unable to put the skids on a losing streak that reached five games on Saturday night at home.

After building up a 4-0 lead over 39 minutes of play, the visiting Cochrane Crunch held on over the final period and a bit, dumping the homeside 6-4 to improve their record to 8-1-0.

Joey Mavrin scored twice to lead the way for Cochrane, with Seamus Maguire, John Stevenson, Hunter Atchinson and Dustin Cordeiro adding solo markers. Rookie Cayse Ton provided a spark for Rayside, getting the team on the board with a power-play marker with just one second remaining on the board in the second period.

The momentum seemed to carry over to the final frame, as Ryan Mooney, Danny Lepage and Jackson Gunner all tallied within a span of just over four minutes in the third. That outburst narrowed the Crunch lead to just 5-4, before Mavrin netted his second of the game, into the empty cage, with just four ticks showing on the clock.

Cochrane outshot the Canadians 46-29, as coach Jason Young and company look to move back to the .500 mark with a mid-week matchup with the French River Rapids, Wednesday in Noelville.
