The Leafs claimed Corrado, 22, on Tuesday. He was waived by the Vancouver Canucks earlier this week. However, he would have to clear waivers if the Leafs wanted to send him to the Toronto Marlies, where Levio was assigned earlier in training camp.

The six-foot, 190-pound defenceman was captain during the 2012-2013 season, his final in the OHL with the Wolves. The right-shooting defenceman was drafted in the second round the Wolves in 2009, and by the Canucks in the fifth round -- 150th overall – in 2011. He had a strong NHL camp that year and the Canucks signed him to an NHL contract.

That same year, he and Leivo were named to Team OHL in the Canada Vs. Russia Subway Super Series. Corrado also came close to making the Canadian lineup that year for the World Junior Championship.

He was traded to the Kitchener Rangers in January 2013 along with Leivo and overage goalie Joel Vienneau. The deal saw goalie Franky Palazzese, Matt Schmalz and defenceman Cody Genovese make their way North.

In 10 games last season with the Canucks, Corrado had a goal, no assists and was a -2.
