The Nickel City Minor Bantam "AAA" Sons improved to 6-2 last weekend in Sault Ste Marie, and they made it look easy.

The locals outscored the Soo Thunder 21-6 over the course of a three-game set, completing a sweep with final scores of 7-2, 9-2 and 5-2. The Sons made a statement right out of the gate in game one, grabbing an early 3-1 lead and never looking back.

Hunter Brazier and Justin Dauphinais scored two goals apiece for Nickel City, with Avery Chisholm, Kurtis Wennerstrom and Nick Faught adding one goal each.

Justin Mauro and Ty Zachary replied for the Thunder, dealing with the absence of offensive catalyst David Campbell due to an injury. Game two wasn't a whole lot prettier for the homeside, as Dauphinais recorded the hat-trick in leading the Sons to a 9-2 win.

Brazier enjoyed his second straight two-goal game, with Giordano Biondi, Wennerstrom, Dario Beljo and Faught capping the offensive outburst for the visitors. Mauro handled all of the scoring for the Soo, drilling his second and third tallies of the weekend.

While things remained much closer on Sunday, and the Thunder holding a 2-1 first period lead, the end result was the same. Gavin Brown, with a pair, Spenser Dickson, Wennerstrom and Brazier all found the back of the net for head coach Rod Mackenzie, with Michael Neveau and Nick Niro countering in a losing cause.

The Sons will enjoy a break from NOHL (Northern Ontario "AAA" Hockey League) action, hosting the Thunder in their next league games on the weekend of Nov. 14 and 15.
