Travelling south of the border in pursuit of tournament competition is always a somewhat risky proposition, with almost guaranteed challenges in terms of simply finding appropriate competition.

Still, the Sudbury Midget A Lady Wolves do not begrudge a trek to the Rochester Fire on Ice Invitational, one which would seem them perhaps a tad over-matched in the early going, but settling in nicely before all was said and done.

The eye opener came right out of the gate, as the Sudbury crew suffered a 6-0 loss at the hands of an impressive Syracuse Nationals midget AA side. Pitted against the Kingston Midget AA Ice Wolves in game two, the locals remained winless, beaten 5-1 by the Eastern Ontario girls, as Stephanie Guay managed to get the Sudburians on the score sheet.

Now accustomed to the level of play they were facing, the Lady Wolves came through with a superior effort in game three, though still on the wrong end of a 2-0 decision with a club from New Jersey.

The Lady Wolves able to hit the road with smiles on their faces thanks to a 3-1 triumph over Team Illinois, as Cassy Watters, Rylee Moxam and Sydney Hall all pulled the trigger for the locals.

The 2015-2016 edition of the Sudbury Midget A Lady Wolves features Cheyenne Saucier, Taylor Brooks, Shaylene Peltier-Restoule, Rebecca Gobbo, Stephanie Guay, Delaney Webkamigad, Aaliyah Canard, Claire Romani, Marina Plexman, Morgan Zazulak, Cassy Watters, Montana Onucky, Sydney Hall, Danielle Battistelli, Emma Chamberland, Mikayla Lekun and Rylee Moxam.

Team staff includes coaches Daran Moxam, Ian Reinhardt and Brent Battistelli, trainer Marcie Tellier and manager Jennifer Mackinnon. The Midget A squad will now wait to see if there is a division for them that exists within the Snowflake Challenge, Dec. 11 to 13, with possible tournaments in London and Leaside planned for the next year.
