The one big problem that has haunted the Sudbury Wolves the last few weeks reared its ugly head again in a 6-0 loss in Mississauga Sunday afternoon.

It was the local juniors’ seventh loss in a row.

The inability to score goals and convert chances was evident and head coach Dave Matsos says it's frustrating.

"The first period scoreline wasn't reflective of the way we played," said Matsos.

"Yes we were down 3-0 but we matched them when it came to quality scoring chances, but we didn't finish. Our offence has gone ice cold, and for a team that isn't scoring we can't afford to play catch-up...and that seems to be the way it's been every game of late."

Mississauga led 3-0 after the first period and 4-0 after two, with the Steelheads adding two more in the third to make the final 6-0.

The Wolves had no answer for Mississauga's top line as Mike McLeod (1-3), Nathan Bastian (1-3) and Alexander Nylander (2-1) combined for 11 points.

Wolves captain Danny Desrochers says the work ethic is there, but they have to start bearing down on their chances.

"Sometimes we have little mental breakdowns and it's costing us games" said Desrochers.

"We have to pay more attention to detail and pay the price to score goals. We're in a tough situation and anything goes to score goals. It doesn't have to be pretty but we have to pay the price to get them to start going in".

Mississauga outshot the Wolves 36-28.

Matthew Menna got the start in the Wolves net but was replaced by Zack Bowman to start the second period. Menna allowed three goals on fourteen shots while Bowman allowed three goals on twenty-two shots the rest of the way.

With the loss, the Wolves record drops to 5-15-1-0 while their road record slips to 2-7.

The Wolves are in Barrie Thursday night before returning home to face the Peterborough Petes Friday night and the Kingston Frontenacs Sunday afternoon.
