The Cambrian Golden Shield women’s volleyball team earned an important split on a tough southwestern Ontario weekend road trip, bumping their record to 5-2 and sitting in a three-way gridlock (with Niagara and Humber) for second place in the OCAA West Division.

The local ladies made it four straight wins Friday night in Windsor, taking down the St. Clair Saints in four sets (25-20, 25-18, 20-25, 25-12).

Amanda Kring paced the attack with nine kills, with Sara Charlton adding six, and Kailey Bastien and Kelsey Watson chipping in with four each.

Defensively, Emily Redwood and Watson were at the top of their game, both recording 12 digs, with Hayley Chisholm and Kring close behind with ten each.

Unfortunately, the Shield would run straight into the first place Fanshawe Falcons the next day, with the red-hot host team sweeping past the Cambrian crew in straight sets (25-17, 25-18, 25-10).

Kring was again the top hitter for the visitors, finishing with six kills, as coach Dale Beausoleil took advantage of the opportunity to find some playing time for both Jessica Strapp and Kathryn Webb.

Cambrian has three regular season games remaining before the Christmas exam break, playing host to the Conestoga Condors (0-6) this coming Sunday at noon, and heading out on the road the following weekend to face the Humber Hawks (5-0) and Sheridan Bruins (2-4).
