It was a familiar script for the Sudbury Wolves on Sunday afternoon as they fell behind early in North Bay.

The Wolves were beaten 4-2 by their Central Division rivals the North Bay Battalion on Jan. 31, in large part due to spotting the Battalion a 2-0 lead in the first period.

North Bay jumped on the Wolves within the first minute of the game on a goal by Daniil Vertiy just 52 seconds into the game.

Maurizio Colella would double the lead at 13:51 of period number one.

Matt Schmalz brought the Wolves back within one with a power play goal late in the first and Dmitry Sokolov evened the score with just 37 seconds remaining and the teams went into the first intermission deadlocked at two goals apiece.

The score would stay even until late in the second when Kyle Wood scored on the power play for the Battalion with just 2:30 left on the clock.

The Wolves could not find another equalizer and North Bay captain Mike Amadio potted his 29th goal into the empty net and the Battalion sealed the 4-2 victory.
