The Sudbury Wolves will host two charity games over the Family Day weekend to support Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer and the United Way.

On Friday, Feb. 12 the Wolves will host the Saginaw Spirit for the first Superhero Night, to support Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer.

The players will wear special jerseys that night made to look like bright superhero costumes.

Fans will be able to purchase the new jerseys in a silent auction, which will help raise funds for Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer.

Skater's Edge will also sell special superhero t-shirts for $15, of which $5 from every purchase will help support the charity.

Finally, proceeds from the evening's 50/50 draw will also support Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer.

Fans are encouraged to dress up as their favourite superheroes when they attend the game.

“Superheroes are a perfect tie in with the NOFCC as superheroes are one of the themes used to spread awareness for children with cancer,” said Sudbury Wolves owner Mark Burgess.

Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer helps support the children and their families when they travel to Ottawa, Toronto, or further, for cancer treatments.

“It doesn't matter where they're being treated or how they're being treated. We support them,” said Dayna Caruso, the charity's exeuctive director.

Caruso said the organization supports more than 400 families across Northern Ontario, and helps 39 families in Sudbury whose children are in active cancer treatment, or in follow-ups.

On Saturday, Feb. 13 the Wolves will host Northern Ontario rivals the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds for the 11th annual Vale Sudbury Saturday Night game.

The game will feature a second intermission musical performance by the Shaft Bottom Boys, and a cheque presentation from Vale to the United Way Sudbury and Nipissing Districts.

Vale spokesperson Danica Pagnutti said tickets for the game are selling fast.
