BLACKWELL, Albert (Bert) - His children announce with sorrow his passing on March 18th at St. Joseph's Health Centre Sudbury. He has rejoined the love of his life Noella (Cayen) predeceased in 1996. Dad was born in Sudbury on March 29th 1922 the loving son of the late Walter and Rose (Barbeau). Brother to Bill predeceased (Verna), Jim predeceased (Sandy), Dorothy Boyer, Pete (both predeceased). He grew up in Creighton Mines and at an early age began his career as a machinist with INCO. During the war years Dad served with pride in the R.C.N. as a petty officer doing convoy duty on the North Atlantic. He and mom were married in 1944. Following the war he returned to work for INCO until retirement as General Foreman at Creighton Mine in 1976. In 1951 he moved to Lively where together with mom they raised their 7 children and shared in the lives of 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Dearly missed by his children Marcella and Abel (Gallo); Connie and Greg (Thompson); Don and Joan; Jack and Susan; Gordon and Brenda; Mary and Nello (Ronchin); Chris and Cheryl. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren Kevin, Curtis, Jeffrey (Jennifer), Kimberly (Toshi), Tracy (John), Scott (Lindsay), Melanie (Jay), Sarah (Fred), Darin (Shannon), Maaria (Ean), Bradley (Colleen), Brande (Jeff), Angie (Mark), Christopher (Kristi), Trevor, Catherine, and Michael (Predeceased). Special and loving Great Grandad to Kaitlyn, Ashton, Megg, Jake, Victoria, Sarita, Alexander, Ellianna, John, Elena, Mikaela, Kiigin, Hana, Nathan, Kylie, Maija, Brett, Nova, and Nika. Missed by dear friends Helen and Louis Osika who brought great joy to our family throughout many years. Dad was an avid sports fan following closely the Sudbury Wolves and Toronto Blue Jays. He spent wonderful times each summer at Stanley Park on Manitoulin Island along with years of hunting and fishing with family and friends. His storytelling and quick wit have left us with many fond memories. Visitation at the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME, 252 Regent Street South on Sunday March 21st from 2:00p.m. to 5:00p.m. and 7:00p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Prayers Sunday at 3 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00a.m. Monday March 22nd at St. Pius X Parish in Lively.
