Obituary

BURTON, Jacqueline Margaret (nee Craig) - 1928 - 2012 - Born in Cobalt Ontario Jacquie had a long and storied life. Charged with raising three boys in bush camps throughout Northern Ontario, Quebec and the eastern provinces she not only rose to the challenge but went on, in what little spare time she had, to study by correspondence and become one of the first female stock brokers in Canada. When she finally settled down and called Sudbury her home she took up golf and curling and went on to become the first woman ever to sit on the board of directors of the Idylwylde Golf and Country Club. Her wanderlust not yet sated Jacquie moved on to other environs contributing her talents to theatre, community activities and the arts. She will be missed by her ex husband Jim, her sons and their wives David (Nadia), Keith (Jennifer) and Brent (Paulette), her grandchildren Nissa (Egidio), Daniel, Andrew, India and Julie (Jason) and her great-grandchildren Dante, Drea and Abby. The family would like to thank the staff and residents of The Walford as well as the North East Community Access Centre for their friendship and support. A Memorial Service will be held at a future date. Arrangements entrusted to the JACKSON & BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, Sudbury.
