 GODDARD, J.W. Rexford - In loving memory of J.W. Rexford Goddard, 89 years, peacefully Monday, January 30th, 2012 at the Pioneer Manor, Sudbury, with his loving family at his side. Beloved husband of Annette (Hermans) Goddard. Loving father of Murray Goddard (wife Carolyn), Diane Laing (husband Brent) and Karen Beange (partner Cathy). Cherished grandfather of Laura Goddard, Meaghan White (husband Benjamin), Shawn Quesnel (wife Francine), Ashley Sturdy (husband Benjamin), Jonathan Laing, Trevor Beange, Erin Beange, Kristen Beange and great grandchildren Justin and Alexandre. Dear son of Arthur and Linda (Wright) Goddard predeceased. Dear brother of Gerry Goddard (wife Joan), Linda Tait (husband Ron) and predeceased by Morley Goddard. Sadly missed by nephews and nieces. A lifelong and well-respected Sudburian, Rex had graduated from Queen's University with his chemical engineer degree. A proud Canadian, he had served in the Royal Canadian Navy. He joined the family business Goddard Appliance Center in 1957 retiring with the closure of the firm in 1983. In younger days he was a keen sailor and hunted with family members. Rex had a great affinity for nature and a passion for golf. The priority of his life was his family especially his precious wife “Annie” for 64 years. The light of his life will be cherished by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff on the first floor at the Lodge in Pioneer Manor for their excellent care and support. Funeral Visitation at the JACKSON and BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury (2-4; 7-9pm Wednesday). Private Family Funeral Service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel Thursday, February 2nd, 2012.
