Obituary

 In Loving Memory of Geppino Pieri 88 years Tuesday, June 15th, 2010 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital – Memorial Site. Beloved husband of 58 years, to wife Pierina (Barilari). Father of Paula Zimmer (Fred), Diane Leuschen, Rita Lanteigne (Gilles), and Maria (predeceased). Cherished Nonno of Chris (Monique Villeneuve), Laura, Daryl, Cortney, Jordan (fiance Tara Morin), and Pamela. Son of the late Palma (Bertulli) and Guerino Pieri, of Italy. Brother of the late Velina Pontellini (Nello), Faustina Brugia (Fernando) and Tina Fabiani (Mario) all of Pesaro, Italy. Born in Candelara, Pesaro, Italy, Geppino came to Canada in 1949, making his home in Copper Cliff. In 1951, he married Pierina, and after a short time in Copper Cliff, they settled in Gatchel. He retired from INCO in 1983 after 33 years of service. He would come to enjoy retirement which offered him ample time to pursue his hobbies. He led an active life. He could often be seen riding his bike around his neighbourhood, tinkering in the garage, or perfecting his garden. He was a skilled winemaker, and made his own prosciutto and italian sausage. In his younger years, he hunted small game, was an avid smelt fisherman, and often enjoyed time playing cards with his buddies. A man of simple pleasures, he will be lovingly remembered for his generous soul, and consummate willingness to lend a hand. Resting at the Lougheed Funeral Home 252 Regent St., at Hazel St. Funeral Mass in the St. Anthony’s Church 19 Mary St. Friday, June 18th 2010 at 10:15 a.m. Interment in the Civic Cemetery Donations to Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated. (Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Thursday or at the Church after 10 a.m. Friday.)
