HASKIN, Barbara Ann (nee Brown) - In loving memory of Barbara Ann Haskin (nee Brown). On February 6, 2010 at 6:40 a.m., after a good fight, Barbara passed away at Sudbury at the age of 78. She is survived by George, her loving husband and best friend of 59 years, and her children Lyn Knuff (husband Cliff), Brad (partner Brenda Quittenton) and Nick (wife Donna). Also survived by her grandchildren Brian, Steven, Dave, Jen, Easson, Dalton, Jake, Evan and Anna and great-grandchildren Cameron and Abi. Barbara will also be missed by her niece Kim, great-nephews Adam and Stewart, nephews Art and Bob. Predeceased by her parents Art and Ethel Brown, her sister Marilyn Mulack and cousins Bill Wedderburn and Lois Blair. Barbara was born in Ottawa on November 23, 1931 and came to Sudbury at the age of 9 with her family. The Ottawa Valley remained home in her heart and she told many stories of summers spent on the family farm in Barryvale and the shenanigans she and her cousin Billy engaged in. She was known as a loyal and devoted friend and was endeared to the hearts of everyone who knew her. The value of human life, integrity and ethics were important to Barbara. She displayed those values in her work as a broker in the local real estate industry, to the students she taught across the province through the Ontario Real Estate Association, and, in earlier years, at both the Sudbury Star and Northern Life newspapers. She enjoyed serving for many years as the secretary for the Korea Veterans Association in Sudbury. Barbara viewed people as a unique individuals and made time for the many friends who asked for her advice or just needed a compassionate listening ear. She will be remembered for her sense of fun and her professional and personal loyalty to all. Memorial Visitation and Celebration of Life Service at the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury on Wednesday February 10, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., after which there will be a luncheon. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Lung Association would be appreciated.
