HYSEN, Dr. James “Jim“ Richard - In loving memory of Dr. James “Jim“ Richard Hysen, 57 years, who passed away Sunday, June 10th, 2012 at Health Sciences North. Beloved husband of Cynthia (Ralley) Hysen. Cherished father of Richard, David and Lisa. Loving son of Richard (predeceased) and Wilma Hysen. Dear brother of Dave (Debbie), Leslie, and Julie. Dear son-in-law of Allan and Virginia Ralley. Dear brother-in-law of Carolyn Somers (Bob), Karen Carpenter (David), Joanne MacIsaac (Greg) and Janis Ralley. Sadly missed by many relatives and friends. Jim was born in London Ontario. After graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1980, Jim worked as a veterinarian in Sarnia and Oshawa before establishing the Lockerby Animal Hospital in Sudbury in 1987. Over the course of his 32 year veterinary career he has helped thousands of animal friends, a role he felt very privileged to have. In addition he contributed greatly to the veterinary profession through his volunteerism on the Board of the Sudbury District Veterinary Association, the Northern Ontario Veterinary Association and the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association, where he proudly served as President in 2009. He was a true inspiration to everyone he worked with. Above all his professional accomplishments, his greatest pride was his children. Special thanks to Dr. Lopez, Dr. Knight and the nurses on the oncology floor of Health Sciences North for their kindness and care. Resting at the JACKSON & BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury. Funeral Service at St. Andrew's United Church, 111 Larch St., Sudbury Thursday, June 14th, 2012 at 10 a.m. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. Donations to the NCF-Cancer Center or Farley Foundation would be appreciated. Friends may call 2-5 p.m. or 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Jim always had a warm smile and a friendly word. We all have various reasons for choosing where we spend our professional lives, but his impressed me most. He told me once that he chose to open his practice in Sudbury, because he just thought it would be good place to live. My sincere condolences to his family ,colleagues and clients.
A very sad time for all who knew and know Jim. It had been years since we had seen each other, and at a conference, Jim's radiant smile and firm handshake made the years disappear. His dedication to his family and our profession were exemplary. My deepest condolences to his family and closest friends.
Mary Lou and I express our deepest sympathy to Jim's family on this sad occasion. Jim was an inspiration for getting me involved in cycling. I will treasure the picture of Jim, Marie and I on my first Farley ride...
Barb and I send our deepest sympathy to jim's family. Jim was a wonderful friend who could always see the bright side of things in our class at veterinary college. And while cycling along in the Ride for Farley He spoke so proudly of his family and his friends in Sudbury. Such a loss- he will be fondly remembered by our class of OVC '80.
We shared being in the class of '80 at the Ontario Veterinary College and the times that we met at conferences etc. Jim had such a welcoming smile it was always a pleasure to see him. I send my condolences to the family. Jim will be missed by all who knew him.

To Jim's family I am sorry for your loss. Jim was a classy classmate, with a wonderful sense of humour. He was a great support in the first Farley Ride I did from his clinic in Sudbury . He was a credit to our profession and I am honoured to have known him.
We were deeply saddened to hear of Dr. Jim's passing. Jim was a housemate in veterinary school and I will always remember his great sense of humor and kind heart! When we last met several years go he spoke so warmly of his family, life and practice in Sudbury. Our condolences to you all, we know he will be truly missed.

I am saddened ot hear of the passing of Dr Jim. My furry housemates and I will misss his smiling face and caring ways. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and co-workers. I can't imagine the sense of loss you are experiencing. He will be missed but never forgotten.

We will never forget how wonderful Dr. Jim was with our cats. He truly loved animals and was just a super nice human being. Sudbury was very blessed to have him. So sad for your family's loss.
