PHARAND, Omer - Passed away peacefully on July 9, 2012 at the age of 94. Predeceased by the love of his life, his wife, Mildred McAllister. Son of the late Mose Pharand and Dovina (Delvina) Henri. Leaving behind his children Richard Pharand (Elvine Gignac), Herbert Pharand (Laima Lamothe), Sylvia Gauthier (Donald), Linda Pharand, Brenda Pharand and Julianne Pharand, Suzanne Goulet (Denis) all of Sudbury, Donald Pharand of Grand Forks, B.C., Gary Pharand and Claudia Pharand (Eric Lasalle) both of Montreal. Predeceased by his sisters Marie-Jeanne Bodson and Fovita Pharand and his brothers, Germain, Gédéon and Maurice. Survived by his sisters, Simone Beaulne, Rita Portelance and his brother Léo (Lucille). Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Don, Marc, Reney, Mireille, Marissa, Camala, Julia and by his great-grandchildren, C.J. Patrick and Courtney. Omer Pharand was known for his great sense of humour and as a hard working man. He was a hard rock bonus miner and a union man who did not suffer fools gladly. He built the pillars of his home in the Flour Mill with the help of his wife where they raised their ten children. The family will receive friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd. E., Sudbury, Wednesday from 2-5 and 7-9:30 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel, Sudbury. Donations (by cheque only) to the Laurentian University School of Medicine would be greatly appreciated. PHARAND, Omer - Est décédé paisiblement le 9 juillet 2012 à l'âge de 94 ans. Prédécédée par le grand amour de sa vie, son épouse, feu Mildred McAllister. Fils de feu Mose Pharand et Dovina (Delvina) Henri. Il laisse dans le deuil ses enfants Richard Pharand (Elvine Gignac), Herbert Pharand (Laima Lamothe), Sylvia Gauthier (Donald), Linda Pharand, Brenda Pharand et Julianne Pharand, Suzanne Goulet (Denis) tous de Sudbury, Donald Pharand de Grand Forks, B.C., Gary Pharand et Claudia Pharand (Eric Lasalle) tous deux de Montréal. Prédécédé par ses soeurs Marie- Jeanne Bodson et Fovita Pharand et ses frères, Germain, Gédéon et Maurice. Lui survivent ses soeurs, Simone Beaulne, Rita Portelance et son frère Léo (Lucille). Il est également regretté par ses petits-enfants, Don, Marc, Reney, Mireille, Marissa, Camala, Julia et par ses arrière petits- enfants C.J. Patrick et Courtney. Omer Pharand était connu pour son bon sens d'humour et pour son travail dur. Il était un mineur au “bonus“ et un homme d'union qui n'avait aucune tolérance pour l'incompétance. Avec l'aide de sa femme, il construisa les piliers de sa maison dans le Moulin à Fleurs o ils élevèrent leurs dix enfants. La famille recevra parents et amis à la COOPÉRATIVE FUNÉRAIRE, 222 boul. Lasalle, Sudbury le mercredi de 14h à 17h et de 19h à 21h30. Un service funéraire sera célèbré le jeudi 12 juillet 2012 à 11h en la chapel, Sudbury. Des dons (par chèque seulement) à Université Laurentienne-École de médecine seraient grandement appréciés.
