SAMUELS, Noel Anthony - In Loving Memory of Noel Anthony Samuels, 61 years, Tuesday, July 24th, 2012 at Health Sciences North. Dearly beloved husband of Boguslawa “Boba“ (Marcinowski) Samuels. Loving father of Genevieve (Ian Hibbert), Marc, and Jordan. Dear son of Norman and Mary Samuels of India, both predeceased. Dear brother of Reginald (Pat predeceased) of B.C., Daphne (Neville predeceased) of Brampton, Eugene (Mary Ann) of Mississauga, Melvin (Linda) of Sudbury, Elizabeth (Joseph) of India, predeceased by Denzil and Terrence (Yvonne) of India. Dear son-in-law of Richard predeceased and Halina Marcinowski of London. Dear brother-in-law of Eva of B.C., Richard (Donna) and Christopher (Mitzi) both of London. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins in Canada and around the world, and by special family friends Mohamud and Soraiya Halani, their children and family. Noel spent his life in the service of others. His was the classic story of an eager young immigrant from India who worked his way up from being a hotel night cleaner to being a manager of hotels. He took pride in his work and in that of everyone who worked alongside him, and had little patience for those whose concern was their own self interest. His strong moral and religious values were a prominent part of his life and formed the basis for his community work in Sudbury, a city he loved. He served the homeless Out of the Cold dinners, and supported the Sudbury Food Bank and Give Kids the World, and provided quiet help to many causes. He was a member of the Sudbury Chamber of Commerce and earlier this year received the Paul Harris Fellow award from the Rotary Club of Sudbury for his efforts at promoting friendly relations among peoples of the world. In addition to being a proud father of three, he was a proud sponsor of three children through World Vision. Rather than seeking recognition for himself, he preferred to remain in the background, and he acted to share life's blessings with those who were less fortunate. In his eyes, greatness was not measured by success or fortune, but by service. He earned a grand reputation on his grand character, touching many lives as a mentor, a leader, and a friend. He lived with the courage of his convictions and inspired others to see life positively. Every day was a “good morning“ to him. He was forever grateful for the many gifts God had given him, and we, who were fortunate enough to be touched by his life, will always be grateful for the care and kindness he shared. The legacy of his love will always be a beacon of hope for his family and many friends. Funeral Mass in St. Patrick's Church, 39 Walford Rd., Sudbury, Saturday, July 28th, 2012 at 11am. Reception following at the Holiday Inn Sudbury. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. In London, a Memorial Mass will be held at St. Michael's Church, 926 Maitland St., London, Monday, July 30th, 2012 at 11am. Followed by a reception. Interment of cremains at St. Peter's Cemetery, London. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sisters of the Precious Blood, Out of the Cold (St. Andrew's) or Infant Food Bank of Sudbury would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, Sudbury. To light a memorial candle, flowers, donations or messages of condolences available on-line at www.lougheed.org
