Obituary

SMITH, Madelyn (nee Percival) - Passed away peacefully at Kensington Hospice, Toronto, Ontario on December 29, 2011 in her 91st year after a lengthy illness. Madelyn is survived by twin sons, Bill Smith and Doug Smith of Toronto, and daughter- in-law Cathy Smith (nee Carlson) and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Jim Smith, her parents, Alice and William Percival and her sisters Mary Percival, Freddy Bernier, Natalie Kenyon and Billie Butler. Madelyn started knitting at age 6 and made hundreds of baby sweaters and Iceland sweaters, many for people she had never met. She volunteered at Our Lady Of Perpetual Help church, St Alphonsus elementary school, St. Charles College and Sudbury General Hospital. She took pride in homemaking and her twin boys were the light of her life. Madelyn was born and lived in Sudbury for most of her life. In 1996 she moved to Toronto and enjoyed life in Danforth Village. Her family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at the Kensington Hospice who made the last weeks of her life so comfortable.
