Obituary

WHITMAN, Lance Richard - In loving memory of Lance Richard Whitman, 66 years old, who passed away suddenly January 20, 2013 at Health Sciences North in Sudbury. Married 36 years, he was the loving husband of Linda Whitman (nee Brandon).Cherished father of Christopher (Laura). Beloved son of Dennis Whitman and Betty Whitman (predeceased 2009). Special brother of Dennis (predeceased) and brother-in-law of Manon, Brenda, Debi (Murray) and Kevin. Dear uncle of D'arc (Jennifer), Skye (predeceased), Trevor (Kerri), Ian (Allie), Amy and Mackenzie; and great-uncle of Hailey, Aiden and Evan. Born in Aldershot, England, on February 8th, 1947, Lance immigrated to Sudbury in October of 1955. A shy, yet outspoken individual, he always had an opinion about current events. He loved movies and television, and was always happy to lend you a copy of anything you hadn't seen yet. He was well-known for his handiness around the house, particularly with automobiles, computers, electronics and appliances. What Lance will be remembered for most, though, is his passion for music. A founding member of the band “The Inferno 5 + 1“, Lance's skill and ability as an avid musician spanned for decades. After mastering the acoustic and electric guitars, he went on to learn the piano self-taught. Never shy about belting out the lyrics to his favourite country, blues or rock songs, Lance amassed an inventory of musical equipment, books and records. Reunited finally with his mother, brother, niece and in- laws, Lance is surely now keeping them all entertained. Forever in our thoughts and in our prayers, he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Memorial donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Funeral Visitation at the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME 252 Regent St. at Hazel St. Thursday, January 24th, 2013 5-8pm only. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium.
