Steelworkers Local 6500 president John Fera said at a Feb. 5 press conference that the issues dealt with in negotiations between Xstrata Nickel and Local 598 were similar to outstanding issues between the Steelworkers and Vale Inco. He said the difference is Xstrata Nickel was willing to negotiate instead of dictating what they wanted in a collective agreement. Sudbury Mayor John Rodriguez urged both Vale Inco and the Steelworkers to get back to the bargaining table.
